My lifelong love affair with cosmetics began in 1975 after sitting at my grandmother's vanity for the first time. Though off limits to my small hands, I found time away from watchful eyes to discover its mystique within wallpaper-lined drawers and ornate glass bottles. These pivotal moments at such a tender age lead me toward my passion and path as a beauty professional.
Surrounded by the essence of old-school glamour -- exotic perfumes, elegant combs, a gilded hand mirror, and creamy rouge -- I was totally and completely enthralled by a concept I was too young to embrace, but keenly aware was sacred.
After my grandmother passed away her vanity was delivered to my doorstep,
landing in my century-old home in Buffalo. Flooded with emotion as I watched it being carried into my studio I knew in an instant, her vanity would become the centerpiece to my craft.
With age comes wisdom...
In an age where photoshop has become an illusive standard, and perfection is plastered
on every magazine cover it's easy to lose the connection with your personal esteem.
My own journey forced me to reconcile with the one person that deserved it most; My Self.
And with that I ask all my clients to seek a
similar authenticity and invest in the one person that will always be there - YOU!
Beauty is not meant to be learned, it should be innate. Each one of us is born beautiful,
perfect in the eyes of those who embrace us, but somewhere along the way we learn to focus on our "flaws" rather than embrace them for what they are - UNIQUE!
Daring Young Red wants to re-introduce you to your most divine, most perfect "Imperfect" self.
My personal mission for every woman is to reconnect and identify her definitive beauty, and grasp just how unrepeatable each of us is.
Makeup and good skin care are effective methods for self care, but the real catalyst to self-empowerment is believing in what you see reflected in the mirror.
So why Daring Young Red?
Named for the singular shade of scarlet lipstick
I wore to my high school homecoming dance,
Daring Young Red captures the essence of womanhood,
and acknowledges the path we walk together to embrace our most authentic selves.
